POST SARCS01/2026: Project Manager x 2

 

BACKGROUND

The South African Red Cross Society (SARCS) was established by an Act of Parliament as a humanitarian organization auxiliary to the Government in the humanitarian field. The auxiliary mandate of SARCS as stipulated in the Red Cross Act, demands that it plays a pivotal role in complimenting Governments efforts in Disaster management, Social Services   and Health Services.  The SARCS service provision aims at preventing and alleviating human suffering, protecting life and health, and restoring the dignity of the most vulnerable communities.

Reporting Station: Mpumalanga (1) and Limpopo (1)

Duration: 6 months contract without expectation of renewal

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring humanitarian and development programmes within a specific province. The role ensures that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with donor requirements and organizational policies. This entails coordination of interventions with strategic partners and stakeholders whilst strengthening the SARCS humanitarian response and advancing learning through innovation, knowledge building and learning.

Requirements & Qualifications

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, Project Management, or a related field (Master's degree is often an advantage).
  • 5–8 years' experience managing humanitarian and development programmes.
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects.
  • Strong leadership, budgeting, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting (PMER).
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Valid South African driver's licence and willingness to travel within the province.
